Product Description

Metal Expansion Joint
Metal Expansion Joints also called metal corrugated compensator, it composed by metal bellows and accessories such as end pipe, support, flange and conduit. Metal expansion joints can be used to absorb the dimensional changes of pipelines, conduits and containers caused by thermal expansion and cold contraction, or to compensate the axial, transverse and angular displacement of pipelines, conduits and containers. It also can be used for noise reduction and vibration reduction.
Functions
Compensate the axial, lateral and angular thermal deformation of the absorption pipeline.
The expansion and contraction of the corrugated compensator is convenient for the installation and disassembly of the pipeline.
Absorb equipment vibration and reduce the impact of equipment vibration on the pipeline.
Absorb the deformation of the pipeline caused by the earthquake and ground subsidence.

Applications
Acid, alkali, corrosion, oil, hot water, cold water, compressed air, compressed weather, flue gas pipeline, pulverized coal pipeline, desulfurization pipeline, etc.

Installation Guidelines
The type, specification and pipeline configuration of the metal expansion joints should be checked before installation, and it must meet the design requirements.
For expansion joints which with inner sleeves, care should be taken to ensure that the direction of the inner sleeve is consistent with the flow direction of the medium, and the hinge rotation plane of the hinge-type compensator should be consistent with the displacement plane.
The expansion joints which need to be "cold-tightened", and auxiliary components used for pre-deformation should be removed after the pipeline is installed.
Strictly prohibited to use deforming the corrugated compensator to adjust the installation tolerance of the pipeline, avoid to affect the normal function of the compensator, or will reduce the service life and increase the load of the piping system, equipment and supporting components.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main components of a metal expansion joint?
A metal expansion joint primarily consists of metal bellows and various accessories including end pipes, supports, flanges, and conduits.
How does a metal expansion joint handle thermal expansion?
The metal bellows within the joint are designed to flex, absorbing dimensional changes in the pipeline caused by thermal expansion and cold contraction, thus preventing damage to the piping system.
Can these joints be used for noise and vibration reduction?
Yes, metal expansion joints are effective at absorbing equipment vibrations and reducing the transmission of noise through the pipeline system.
Is it possible to use expansion joints to fix pipeline misalignment?
No, it is strictly prohibited to deform the corrugated compensator to adjust for installation tolerances, as this can reduce service life and increase the load on the system.
What types of media are suitable for these expansion joints?
They are suitable for a wide range of media including acids, alkalis, oils, hot/cold water, compressed air, flue gas, and pulverized coal pipelines.
Why is the flow direction important for joints with inner sleeves?
The inner sleeve must be aligned with the medium flow direction to ensure smooth movement and prevent turbulence or wear that could damage the bellows.
